This year, the annual Graphics of the Americas (GOA) tradeshow will be held at Miami Beach Convention Center, Miami Beach, FL. February 27 – March 4, 2007.
Beamond Creative has already produced artwork for a packaging job run to be displayed during the show. The automatic folding and gluing machine to be demonstrated needed a packaging product that could be run at high speed, and by that I mean around 40,000 pph. A small playing card sized box was selected to meet this requirement. Prior to the show the small box is to be printed and pre foil stamped/embossed. For this Beamond Creative was selected to provide artwork that would “enhance” the piece for distribution as samples during the show.
In preparation for the GOA and after being printed, the playing card sized box was die cut and blanked out as a live demonstration at Graph Expo back in September 2006. Those who attended will no doubt remember the brightly colored piece that was prominent at booth #2400.
To follow the colorful and relaxing stereotype given to the state of Florida, we chose to create a bright design featuring Floridian related imagery that would work well when combined with foil stamping and embossing techniques to accent the piece. One side of the box featured two lizards on a patterned green background. The other depicted a palm tree with a bright summer’s background. Both foreground images were created as vector files for outputting to the brass die manufacturer.
The imagery and color scheme worked out great together, and portrayed the vacation and summers theme that everyone was hoping for. With the finishing dies complete, the piece now awaits foil stamping and embossing to finalize the design. The foreground embossed and foil stamped in green and gold respectively, leaving the background in printed form.
The playing card box will be run on the BoxStar Automatic Folder/Gluer at GOA07 booth #1018. Be sure to check it out and pick up a sample if you will be attending the show, (which also includes for the first time “The Creative Conference” that will run in alongside GOA 2007 in Florida).
